The Tualatin River Trail Run 10 Miler starts and ends at the very family-friendly Tualatin Community Park. There's a fair amount of parking, but I'd recommend carpooling (it's more fun, and you can usually get a few people to side with you on going to DQ after the race).

This event is a fund raiser for the Save Tigard-Tualatin Pools campaign. Unless enough funds are raised and an alternate source of funding is found, both community pools will close on July 1, 2010. If you live in Tigard-Tualatin, you canlearn more about this ballot measure here.
You'll start out heading north on the paved path and over the Tualatin River ped bridge. Just past the bridge, you'll pass by the underpass and take the right fork to the one-mile mark and the first aid station. You'll be in the early morning sunshine the whole first mile! Near the aid station you'll turn off into a small neighborhood for your next mile and then run a small loop back on the trail before heading back south to that underpass that leads into Cook Park.
You'll take that right turn and go under the railroad truss, then pass by another water station just before mile 4. The route will now offer beautiful views of the Tualatin River - keep an eye out for kayakers! - for the next full mile before you'll head back north after hitting the 5-mile mark and starting on the 2nd half of the race. You'll also be back along the Tualatin River, and you'll have the chance to cheer on your friends heading out from the loop you just finished. so you feel strong for the last 5k.
SoloRunner.comThe road sections of the course run through quiet neighborhoods with beautiful trees.
By the time you get back into Cook Park and are running past the little kids playing T-ball (so, so cute), you'll be at mile 6 and in the shade, giving you a chance to cool down. Just before the actual 6-mile marker, you'll turn off and head towards the Butterfly Garden, where you'll find another water stop. Back in the sun, the section of the course after the aid station will probably be the biggest challenge of the race. The paved path winds through the park and then - sorry - there's a hill that is NOT my friend. However, you must run up this hill to get to SW 85th, which is nice and flat and will lead you right into the final 5k of the course.
Mile 7 is just after the left turn onto Durham, and just before the Tigard High School and Community pool - so you actually get to RUN BY the very reason behind this race. Near mile 7.5, you get to start enjoying a downhill, which will lead you back to Cook Park and your third time on the section of trail along the Tualatin River.
In the last two miles, you're by the river the whole time, and you'll have only one hill to climb - a gradual ascent over the Tualatin River on the ped bridge. Immediately after crossing this bridge you'll take a left and hop on the wood chip and dirt trail through the woods. Here is where you kick it in and push for the last half mile!
